EOAD in Caribbean Hispanic and non-Hispanic whites

This project, titled “Genetic Epidemiology of Early-Onset Alzheimer’s Disease in Caribbean Hispanics and non-Hispanic Whites” is headed by principal investigator Dr. Gary Beecham, Director of the Division of Research Informatics in the Center for Genetic Epidemiology and Statistical Genetics at the HIHG, along with co-principal investigator, Dr. Christiane Reitz of Columbia University.

For this project, researchers will form a collection of Hispanic/Latino subjects with and without AD. The team will perform whole-genome sequencing of families with multiple generations affected by early onset AD (< 65 year old) to identify novel AD variation in Hispanics/Latinos and to generalize existing AD genetic discoveries to this underrepresented population
