Hispanic/Latino Alzheimer Disease Initiative

Cuban Americans

With over 2.3 million individuals, the Cuban American’s population makes up over 0.7% of the US population, and is the 3rd largest Hispanic population in the continental US. Florida, with over 1.5 million Cuban individuals, has the highest concentration of Cuban Americans in the US. To date there have been no significant efforts to include Cuban Americans in AD genetics research. The UM HIHG is working with the local community to increase representation of Cuban Americans in clinical research.
