The Hussman Institute for Human Genomics (HIHG) offers a wide array of technological resources and expertise to assist in performing genetic and genomic studies of human diseases. Our technology core, located in the Biomedical Research Building (BRB), consists of sample banking (biorepository), genotyping, sequencing, gene expression and profiling and imaging services. Our histopathology core performs routine histological staining of brain samples. We have our own laboratory database and laboratory information systems to assist in sample processing, data storage and sample management aspects. Our Research Informatics core provides informatics and bioinformatics support for applications in genomic research. We also assist in study design and statistical analyses of genotyping, gene expression, DNA methylation and next generation sequencing data.
We provide technical support to all departments at the University of Miami (UM) involved in genetic and genomic research. We accept paid technical service requests from other universities in or outside Florida. Our highly trained faculty and staff also participate in numerous collaborative research projects with other universities nationwide.
Core Study Collaborations:The HIHG Core collaborates with the Oncogenomics Core Facility at the University of Miami.
